What is a midwife?

     "A midwife is a person who is qualified to practice midwifery. She is trained
to give the necessary care and advice to women during pregnancy, labor and the
postpartum period, to conduct normal deliveries on her own responsibility and to
care for the newly born infant."

Debbie Healy, LM,CNM

Debbie holds a BS in nutrition and dietetics, a BS in nursing, and an MS in midwifery. She has attended over 80 births as a primary midwife, assisted at 12 births, and served as a doula for close to 20 clients. She has witnessed more than 3,000 births in her career as a nurse and midwife. She is certified in CPR and neonatal resuscitation. Debbie is a Registered Nurse and a Certified Nurse Midwife who practices as a Licensed Midwife under state statute created by 2005 Wisconsin Act 292.
